The children arrived in school dressed up in full costume as Ancient Greek soldiers, noblemen, servants slaves and wealthy ladies. They looked splendid. The day was spent discovering more about this historical period through a variety of activiities, but one of the highlights had to be the feast. The long table quickly drew everyone around and all tucked into figs, goats cheese, olives, fresh bread, grapes and pomegranate. Many thanks to parents for providing such a fabulous spread.
The highlight of the afternoon was undoubtedly Owls' version of The Odyssey. Written by the children themselves, the play was acted with great teamwork, confidence and feeling. Donning masks they had made, the children also performed a moving dance which included the rhythmic rowing of a ship. Parents and friends eagerly watched the event and all agreed, the Owls certainly did themselves proud last week, well done!
