The School Day
No two days are the same and we wouldn't want them to be.
We pride ourselves on the creativity of our lessons, with a lot of time actively doing and less time passively sitting and listening. Children learn by doing, it makes it fun and therefore memorable. Memorable equates to good learning and excellent progress. Most days follow a similar rhythm. Details of the School Day are outlined below. |
8.45 – 8.55 am
Children arrive in school between these times. No child must be left on the premises before 8.45am as staff are busy preparing lessons and are unavailable for supervision.
8.55 am
The day starts promptly with registration. The doors are secured at 8.55am. Late pupils should be brought to reception and signed in prior to access to the classrooms.
Collective Worship
Assemblies take place daily at 1.15am in the church except on Fridays when a Celebration Assembly is held at 9.05am. All parents are invited to join us on Fridays.
10.30 – 10.45 am
Morning play. Reception children receive free milk and parents can pay for older pupils to have milk. All infant children are provided with a free piece of fruit each day. Juniors can bring a healthy snack from home for break. All pupils have their own water bottle. The children are escorted up to the playground, where members of staff will be on duty.
12.15-1.15pm
Children either bring in a packed lunch or choose a hot meal. Infants eat first in the school hall, whilst juniors play. At 12.45pm, they swap over. Lunchtime Supervisors liaise closely with the class teachers to ensure a well-communicated handover.
1.15 pm
Afternoon lessons begin. The infants have a discretionary 15-minute break in the afternoon.
3.15 pm
School ends for all children. Parents wait for their children on the church driveway, except for reception parents who collect from the decking area. Staff bring children along the path to meet parents. On rare occasions when parents are running late, they should telephone the office so that their child can be kept safe in school for collection.
