What is Forest School?
It’s not just playing outdoors with sticks; well, it is, and it is also a way of learning about the natural world. Children learn to use tools to make toys and shelters using only the natural materials they can find. Children explore the natural environment and habitats and investigate animal life, insects, plants and trees. They can get mucky and have fun, all in a safe and friendly wooded area!
Forest School allows time for play, exploration, curiosity, and choices. It removes targets and timelines, encouraging creativity and independence. Children learn new and valuable skills, which they can then apply in their formal education.
Most importantly, Forest School bolsters self-esteem, promoting a sense of self-belief in your child’s inherent strengths.

We believe all children have a right to outdoor education, both self-exploratory and structured learning, within and outside of school, regardless of ability, age, disability or finance, to achieve a greater understanding and respect for the natural world around them while acquiring lifetime skills.
