Sports Pages

Let us know what physical activities you got up to over the Christmas holidays.
"Pupils enjoy the wide range of experiences offered by the school, for example, a play about bullying, clubs such as girls’ football, music lessons and competitive sports. Pupils learn about fundamental British values, such as democracy. They appreciate the opportunity to be elected to the school council. Pupils are listened to. Their feedback contributes to the decisions the school makes." Ofsted 2025

We are delighted to announce that we have achieved the School Games Platinum Mark Award for the 2022/23 academic year.

The School Games Mark is a Government-led award scheme launched in 2012, facilitated by the Youth Sport Trust to reward schools for their commitment to the development of competition across their school and into the community, and we are delighted to have been recognised for our success.

Our sporting achievements this year include the following:
  • First place in the small schools' swimming gala
  • Third place in the Panathlon challenge
  • Third place in the girls' football festival

With a total of young people competing in local inter-school competitions this year, we are incredibly proud of our pupils for their dedication to all aspects of school sport, including those young volunteers, leaders and officials who made our competitions possible. As part of our application, we were asked to fulfil criteria in participation, competition, workforce and clubs, and we are pleased that the hard work of everyone at our school has been rewarded this year. A special thanks to:
  • James Jeffery
  • Georgina Mansell
  • Dan Robinson
  • Jess Robinson
  • All of the parents who have provided lifts and attended events

We look forward to applying once again in 2024!

Sports at Horsley

We have a strong sporting tradition at Horsley and compete in many inter-school sports events. We are continually improving our provision to ensure all children are kept active and participate fully in the development of their physical well-being. Pupils benefit from a large variety of sports on offer both in school time and through extra-curricular provision.

Girls Football

Our response to the FA's promise to give all girls equal access to football by 2024 is to promote girls' football and sports through extra after-school clubs, fixtures and entering competitions that extends to more girls than ever before.
