It is vitally important that children know how to stay safe online. At school, we have strict controls on the websites children can visit if they are using computer equipment. In addition, they are all taught about online safety. As parents/carers, it is equally important that you know what your children are doing online at home. So, ask your children to tell you about the sites they like to visit and what they enjoy doing online. Also, ask them about how they stay safe online and discuss the following SMART rules for Online Safety with them.
Welcome to the Online Safety section of the school website. At Horsley C of E Primary School, children are exposed to technology from the time that they start school. Technology plays an integral role within every classroom. It is embedded in Reception and is a constant and prevalent feature of school life.
With the constant advancement of technologies, which places emphasis upon online collaboration and sharing, the children are increasingly ‘creators’ of digital content and not just ‘passive recipients’. They are developing their digital skills as well as skills in creativity, communication and networking.
It makes sense for children to be taught responsible use of these technologies both in school and at home. To enable you to do this, a number of links to Online Safety websites have been provided for you. Please take time to use them with your children.
